We had a great night last night. I tried to send out an email about last night, but some of your email addresses came back as undeliverable. I also don't have some of your emails if you couldn't make it last night. If you didn't receive the letter below by email, please send an email to hwalker@moreland.org so I can add you to my list of emails.

Hello Wonderful Parents of Room 31,

It was wonderful meeting each and every one of you last night. I hope you had a wonderful time in the classroom and learned a lot of the important information for this school year. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.

Here are a few highlights from last night and things that are important for you to know and remember. If I left anything out last night, it will be included in this email.

1. Homework is your child’s responsibility. It’s now time for them to make sure and do their homework and ask you for help when they need it. Right after school is a great time for them to sit and complete their homework for the next day. Please be sure to make time for them to do their homework in your nightly schedule. If you are unsure of what is to be completed, please check my blog. I add all homework to it and it will help you check to make sure they have completed the homework to turn in the next day. The blog address is included on the business card you were given last night.

It is also their responsibility to make sure and bring their homework back to school when it is due. They will be filling out a missing homework sheet if it is not complete. We will be having a responsibility rewards and detentions session every 2 weeks. If your child turns in all of their homework for 2 weeks straight, they will be able to go and do a fun activity. If they didn’t get it done, they will be attending a detention session.

2. Please send in your room roster information as soon as possible. I will collect it from your child and give it to our wonderful room moms!

3. If you have signed up to do something in our classroom (stuff Wed. envelopes, Art Vistas, Library, ABC Cornerstone) and can’t make it, please try and send me an email the day before so I can make other arrangements. My email address is located on the business card and can be found on all monthly newsletters.

4. If you would like to make an appointment to talk to me, please send me an email or call and let me know. I am always happy to discuss things with parents. In your email or telephone call please tell me what might be a good time for you to meet.

5. Field Trips- We will be having an in-house field trip sometime in the next month. Last year I needed about 5 parents to help out with this. The field trip will be over the CA State Symbols. When the time comes, I will start looking for volunteers. If you know you would already like to help, please send me an email and let me know. Sacramento Field Trip- This will happen on April 4th. It is an all day field trip and the cost will be around $70. If you decide you would like to chaperone for this fun, exciting day, you will also be required to pay. If you and your child go, the cost will be around $140. If you would like to chaperone, on the backside of the permission slip will be a place for you to indicate that you would like to help out. We normally leave sometime around 7am and will not return until around 7pm.

6. Original Artworks- We will be doing an art project in class and this will be sent home towards the end of September with an order form. If you would like to purchase one of the products with your child’s design placed on it, some of the money will go directly into your child’s account. You can use this money towards our Sacramento field trip (around $70) or 5th grade Science camp. Remember, Science Camp is expensive (around $420 this year) so you might want to save your earnings to go towards that expense. Another way to earn money that will go toward these fun adventures is to buy scrip. A portion of what you buy will also go into your child’s individual account.

7. If you would like to purchase Country Lane Distinguished School spirit-wear, please send in your order form and money by Sept. 14. We will also be selling a t-shirt for our wonderful fourth graders. More information will be coming home about this soon.

8. I am still in need of at least one more volunteer for Art Vista. If you can help out with this, please email me or sign up on the form that is located outside of our classroom door.

9. AR- this is an important part of 4th grade. Please read what is written in your Back to School Information packet and talk to me if you have any questions!

Again, I want to thank all of you for a wonderful night and I can’t wait to get the opportunity to get to know you better. Together we will make this a successful year for your child!
